What I did
What I did in this lesson was set up the studio with the camera on a tripod with a stool central in the photograph. I then put the camera on self timer and took normal portraiture photographs of myself sitting on the chair at various angles and distances. Each time I would take a photo of myself I would also take the photograph in the same position but with out me being in the shot and without the chair being in the shot. I then uploaded them to the computer and edit the photographs layering them on top of each other and then rubbing parts out to give the illusion that I was only half a person or disappearing.
How I would improve
To improve this shoot I would take more photographs where I am lying instead of sitting so that the effect of floating is more obvious. I would also try and maintain the background and lighting as this did tent to change within each photo making it really difficult to complete the desired edits.
My Work
I was fairly pleased with the outcome of this photograph because the illusion that I am floating is obvious however this was not as easy as just rubbing out the stool as the difference in background colour was to different. Instead I had to colour nearly the whole of the background in so that the chair could not be seen and the background is one solid colour. To improve I would lay down instead of sitting to make the illusion more obvious.
What I will do next
What I have decided to do next is this exact shoot again however on location to give the photographs a more interesting setting so that when I rub myself out it will be more interesting. This will also give me more options for editing the photographs.
