Andy Alcala works entirely with a black background with the same model. Each photo is very different because the photographer uses different face paints to create an image central to the photograph. The facial expression of the model is completely blank and expressionless allowing the photographer to use the face of the model as a blank canvas for his work. This is interesting because it makes the audience question the photographer or artists choice to use the human body as a canvas instead of an actual canvas. My main reason for choosing this photographer is due to the hidden meaning which I read from his work that suggests anyone can be anything they want to be.
In this photograph the make up is a simple white covering giving the photographer/artist the opportunity to create his work on the model. In this photograph the model has been covered with brightly coloured spots. This creates a really interesting photograph because it doesn't seem to have any meaning or purpose but still is an interesting and slightly positive photograph. This has a sort of clown like appearance and could be looked at to represent the multicultural world in which we live in an exaggerated and comical way. This photographer will definitely fit in and influence my work because his work is so unique, interesting and different from other photographers work. I would really like to look at the copying his work in my own way as this works really well. I will especially take influence from the dull lighting and black background. I will also attempt to use paint in my photography even if it is not in the exact way that this photographer has.
Overall I really like this photographers unique style of portrait photography with hidden meanings of cultural diversity etc.
