Shoot Four - Work Record

Inspiration

I got the idea from this shoot from doing my research on photographers where I found the work of Annie Collinge who uses fake facial hair to make her photographs unique and interesting as seen to the left. This idea was also a development from two shoots ago when I was using existing hair to add facial hair to the model using photoshop as seen below. I thought that this would be a comical and interesting way to portray unusual portraiture.

What I did
What I actually did in this shoot is go out and by various different Items including fake moustaches, wigs, eyebrows and a mask in order to add extras to the face of my model. The mask allowed me to have a blank canvas to add the facial hair to and gave the photographs a more sinister and unnerving feel. I then used the different props to create a range of different unusual portraiture photographs for me to edit on  photoshop to achieve the desired results.

How I would improve
To improve this shoot I would look more closely at perfecting each photograph before moving onto the next costume or prop. I would also look at more varied ways of editing my work to achieve the best and most interesting work.

My Work
I was really pleased with this photograph as it has a very sinister and eerie feel to it but also has the standard layout for a portraiture photograph. I think the blue background allows the figure to stand out and the lack of facial features unnerves the audience creating a very effective photograph.
Once again I was very pleased with the outcome of this animation from the shoot as the movement within each frame has slightly improved since last doing an animation piece. I also feel that this is a comical piece as it not only shows Taylor with one moustache but a whole set of them giving the photograph a very comical and positive feel. I was also pleased with the lighting and background of this shoot.

What I will do next
As all of my shoots so far have had a very comical feel to them I feel I have explored this side of unusual portraiture enough and will now move on to more scary, serious and mysterious ideas for my shoots and editing. What I hope to do in my next shoot is incorporate illusion into my work, taking influence from photographers such as Sam Taylor-Wood, Phillip Dame and Dan Lester who's work can be seen below.
